So, just who is K and J? Most of you will see me as ‘chief cook, baker, bottle washer, and caterer’, but I have four daughters, Jeni, Jaci, Jessica, and Kati – and then there is me – Kathy — so you see, K and J can certainly be any combination of my family! For now I’m the ‘boss lady’ but I can tell you that great cooking runs in the family.

My mother has always been a great cook, has been a baker and caterer herself for many years and even had her own bakery in Haysville, Kansas — The Peach Valley Bakery. That was many years ago, mother is 90 now and until her health started failing in 2007, was still baking and decorating cakes and doing catering with our help.

My personal interest in cooking and baking started 50 some years ago — yep, I really am that old! I guess you could say I have a passion for being in the kitchen. I love entertaining, have been planning events and catering for over 35 years and have been baking and decorating cakes and pastries for over 25 years, as a hobby and for family and friends. For the past 8–10 years I turned my hobby into a part–time job. Recently I decided it was time to turn my hobby/part–time job into a profession; after all changing professions from time to time keeps us young and alive!

Family is extremely important to me. I have four daughters, 3 granddaughters and 3 grandsons. I write cookbooks (yes, you just might find one for sale at the shop) and enjoy creating new recipes, I enjoy genealogy research, I love flowers and gardening but haven’t been able to do much gardening for a while, I enjoy traveling, and love to laugh and have fun.

I was born and reared in Kansas so my basic style of cooking is just plain good food. I enjoy culinary travels and make very tasty dishes from other countries and ethnicity’s and can prepare gourmet food with the best of them but prefer to make and serve delicious dishes that satisfy everyone’s palate.
